ECHA has recently indicated its intention to update the SVHC list, including new substances, twice a year.
On April 22, 2010 the public consultation on the proposal for inclusion of 8 additional substances to the SVHC list (substances of very high concern candidates for authorization) ended.
The further proposed substances are:
Name of the substance: Trichloroethylene
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Solvent in adhesives
EC Number: 201-167-4
Name of the substance: Boric acid
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Personal care products, glass, ceramic, rubber, paints
EC Number: 233-139-2 and 234-343-4
Name of the substance: Disodium tetraborate, anhydrous
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Glass, ceramics, detergents, personal care products
EC Number: 215-540-4
Name of the substance: Tetraboron disodium heptaoxide, hydrate
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Glass, ceramics, detergents, personal care products
EC Number: 235-541-3
Name of the substance: Sodium chromate
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Manufacture of other chromium compounds

Name of the substance: Potassium chromate
Some examples of potential uses, as identified by ECHA: Coating of metals, manufacture of textiles, manufacture of pigments/inks

These substances could be included in the official SVHC list in June 2010, updating the number of substances in the SVHC list, now consisting of 30 substances.
