In China, the "Chinese National General Safety Technical Code for Textile Products" GB 18401 is a mandatory standard that defines safety requirements for textile products.
According to GB 18401, textile products are classified into 3 categories:
- Products for children;
- Products with direct skin contac;
- Products without direct skin contac.
Textile products placed on the Chinese market must be safe for consumers and environment and, according to their category, must satisfy technical requirements as: formaldehyde content, color fastness, azo dyes, odor, pH value, etc…
Chinese government carries out customs controls and controls on the market to verify these aspects.
In order to be compliant with GB 18401, you must submitted specific documentation and a third part laboratory certification.
